Goa, Dec. 6 -- As Goa's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive progresses, the Chief Electoral Office has asked the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) and regional passport offices to provide details of Goans who have acquired foreign passports and therefore ceased to be Indian citizens. Many Goans, especially those who obtained Portuguese nationality, may still be listed on the electoral roll. Since there is currently no system for immediate intimation when a person gives up Indian citizenship, the CEO is verifying whether such individuals continue to vote in India despite holding foreign citizenship.
