India, Feb. 3 -- Goa has become the first state in India to launch an artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled lung cancer screening pilot, with plans to review over two lakh chest X-rays by the end of 2026. Announcing the initiative, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said the programme aims to strengthen early detection of lung cancer by integrating AI technology with routine diagnostic procedures. "We have filed a proposal to make AI scanning a default alongside chest X-rays in all government hospitals, ensuring early detection is accessible to all," Rane said.
