Goa, Aug. 20 -- The opposition INDIA bloc has named former Supreme Court Justice B. Sudershan Reddy as its candidate for the upcoming Vice-Presidential election.

Justice Reddy, who also served as Goa Lokayukta during the BJP government, is set to file his nomination on Thursday.

The announcement comes a day after the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) declared veteran BJP leader CP Radhakrishnan as its Vice-Presidential nominee, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi backing his candidature as lead proposer.

Justice Reddy, known for his integrity and judicial acumen, retired from the Supreme Court in 2011 and later took charge as Goa's Lokayukta, where he dealt with several high-profile cases of alleged corruption.
