Goa, Dec. 23 -- Former Punjab IPS officer Amar Singh Chahal is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Patiala after he allegedly attempted suicide at his residence. Doctors have described his condition as critical, according to official sources.

Police officials said they recovered a 25-page suicide note from the spot, in which Chahal reportedly detailed the emotional distress he faced after becoming a victim of an elaborate online investment scam. The note indicates that he was allegedly duped of nearly Rs 8 crore, an ordeal that pushed him into severe depression.
