Goa, Dec. 2 -- Former Bicholim MLA Naresh Sawal has thrown his weight behind Independent candidate Meghashyam Raut for the Latambarse Zilla Panchayat seat, setting up a direct contest with the BJP. Announcing Raut's candidature, Sawal said the Independent hopeful has strong grassroots support and is gaining traction across all five panchayats in the constituency.

Sawal added that Raut's backing from diverse sections of the local population positions him as a formidable contender in the upcoming ZP election.
