Goa, May 29 -- Tonca witnessed heavy flooding on Wednesday following intense rainfall, sparking concerns among local residents about poor creek management. According to those affected, the flooding was primarily due to the lack of desilting and maintenance of the St Inez creek - a vital drainage channel for the area.
Several houses experienced waterlogging, though the damage was limited. Still, the incident has underscored the urgent need for regular desilting and upkeep of the creek to prevent similar issues in the future.
Residents are now calling on local authorities to prioritize flood prevention measures, especially ahead of the upcoming monsoon season.
