Goa, June 24 -- A fisherman was dramatically rescued from drowning off Mobor beach on Sunday, June 22, after being swept nearly 150 meters out to sea by powerful monsoon currents. The incident unfolded as a group of 20 to 25 fishermen were swimming near the rocks, when one of them was suddenly pulled into deeper waters and found himself unable to return to shore.
His companions quickly raised the alarm, alerting lifesaver Mega Velip, who immediately notified the Drishti Marine team at the Mobor watchtower. Responding without delay, two jetskis-one each from Mobor and Cavelossim beaches-were deployed for the rescue. Lifesavers located the distressed fisherman about 150 meters from the shoreline.
