Goa, June 6 -- Valpoi Police have registered an FIR against a resident of Saleli-Varchwada in Sattari for allegedly cheating a local credit society by submitting a fake electricity department payment slip to secure a loan.

The accused is alleged to have duped the Janavikas Nagari Sahakari Pat Saunstha Maryadit Credit Society located in Honda, Sattari, of Rs.2.5 lakh by presenting fabricated documents purportedly from the Electricity Department of Goa.

Based on the complaint filed by representatives of the credit society, police launched a preliminary inquiry, which revealed that the payment slip submitted with the loan application was fake.
