Goa, April 17 -- In a proactive move to uphold food safety standards, the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted a special surveillance drive across food establishments in the Tiswadi region, including areas such as Goa Velha, St. Inez, and Panaji.
As part of the inspection campaign, officials visited 12 food outlets, resulting in the suspension of operations at four kitchens due to hygiene and safety violations. Among those affected were a tea hotel located on the bustling 18th June Road, as well as eateries in St. Inez and Goa Velha.
In addition to the closures, the FDA levied fines totaling Rs.11,000 on three vendors found to be non-compliant with minor food safety regulations.
