Goa, Feb. 10 -- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' sudden meeting with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray has triggered political discussions on a possible alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and MNS ahead of the upcoming local body elections.

While the meeting was termed as informal, political observers believe it was pre-planned, given the crucial Mumbai municipal elections.

The BMC, controlled by the Shiv Sena for the past 25 years, is a major political battleground. With elections pending for 29 municipal corporations, 26 district councils, 257 municipalities, and 289 nagar panchayats, the BJP appears to be strategizing its moves.
