Goa, Nov. 4 -- Former Sancoale Sarpanch Ramakant Borkar has sharply criticised Siddhana Meti, alleging that the recently held Karnataka Rajyotsav celebration in Sancoale was less about culture and more about politics, calling it an "election utsav" ahead of the upcoming polls.

Borkar, while speaking to reporters, said, "Meti is my good friend and has every right to contest. Even last time, he contested and people showed his strength." However, he questioned Meti's intentions behind organising the event, hinting it was politically motivated.

The former Sarpanch also took a dig at Meti's silence on the Mhadei river issue, stating, "Why didn't you speak against Karnataka's diversion of Mhadei water? We Goans also drink the same water."
