Goa, Oct. 15 -- The friend of a medical student who was allegedly raped near a private medical college in Durgapur has been arrested, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to six, police said on Tuesday.

The incident involves a second-year MBBS student who had come from Odisha to pursue her studies in West Bengal. On October 10, she and her friend had stepped out of IQ City Medical College in the Shivapur area when they were allegedly accosted by several individuals. The student was reportedly taken to a forested area and raped.

In the police complaint filed by the survivor's father, the friend was accused of misleading her and taking her to a vacant area under false pretenses.
