Goa, Oct. 30 -- In a major relief to parishioners from Veli parish, Goa, the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) has acquitted all accused in a case dating back to February 25, 2012. The case stemmed from an incident in which parishioners supported their priest during a confrontation and were subsequently booked under various IPC sections, including wrongful restraint and unlawful assembly. Initially, the police had filed a charge sheet that even included an attempt to murder charge under Section 307 IPC, though it was later dropped. After years of legal proceedings, the JMFC has now cleared all accused of the charges, marking the end of a decade-long ordeal.
