India, Feb. 13 -- Chief Minister Pramod Sawant clarified that there are no plans to shut Dabolim Airport, asserting that rumours are being spread for political advantage as elections approach. Responding to comments made by South Goa MP Viriato Fernandes, the Chief Minister said such statements unnecessarily create confusion among the public. He emphasised that substantial infrastructure investments, including a 450-crore flyover project and significant spending by the Civil Aviation Ministry, demonstrate the government's commitment to keeping the airport operational. Sawant assured citizens that both airports in Goa will remain active to support tourism, travel, and economic growth.
