Goa, May 21 -- The Mormugao Port Authority has suspended all port operations until further notice in response to the development of a cyclonic circulation off the Goa and North Karnataka coast. This decision follows a formal alert from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on 21 May 2025, which warned of a likely cyclonic system forming over the east-central Arabian Sea and worsening weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and strong winds in the region.

The port has also implemented strict monsoon protocols, including prohibiting small craft and barges from entering affected areas and requiring vessels to follow enhanced mooring and safety measures.
