Goa, June 8 -- Protests have erupted across Manipur's Imphal Valley following the arrest of Kanan Singh, a prominent leader of the Meitei group Arambai Tenggol. The unrest prompted authorities to impose curfews, restrict public gatherings, and suspend internet services in five districts to curb the spread of unrest.
Singh was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday night at Imphal Airport for his alleged role in the 2023 Manipur violence. He was subsequently flown to Guwahati, where cases related to the violence are being heard due to security concerns in Manipur.
