Goa, Sept. 11 -- Allegations of cross-voting by Opposition MPs in the recent Vice Presidential elections have sparked a major political row, with the BJP taking aim at the Opposition and Congress leader Manish Tewari demanding a thorough probe.

The BJP has used the controversy to suggest deep divisions within the INDIA bloc ahead of crucial state elections. Meanwhile, Tewari warned that cross-voting represents a "serious breach of trust" and could undermine the alliance's credibility.

"If there was cross-voting, then it should be seriously investigated by each of the constituents of the INDIA Alliance. Cross-voting is an extremely serious matter," Tewari said.
