PANJIM, March 21 -- The confusion between alliance partners BJP and MGP on contesting the Shiroda by-election continues.

Even as BJP senior leaders Amit Shah and Nitin Gadkari managed to arm-twist the MGP, the oldest regional political outfit is not coming out open on its decision.

On Monday, BJP leaders eked out a written assurance from MGP leader Ramkrishna 'Sudin' Dhavalikar that his party would not field candidates for upcoming by-elections and not to even think about the Lok Sabha polls. But his younger brother and party president Deepak said there was no question of withdrawing from Shiroda by-poll.
