Goa, Jan. 21 -- Tension erupted at Colva Panchayat's extraordinary gram sabha convened to discuss the Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) as mandated by the Block Development Officer (BDO). Locals vehemently objected to the scant two-day notice for studying the complex plan that will shape the village's future.
Villagers demanded more time and expert department officials to properly explain the technical CZMP document. "Only two days to understand something this critical?" they questioned, insisting on proper consultation.
Sarpanch Teresa Silva told media: "We received BDO notice just two days prior. Immediately called Panchayat body meeting, informed villagers next day. We've resolved to request 60 days, this decides Colva's fate."
