Goa, July 31 -- MLA Jit Arolkar has urged the State Government to legalise Dhirio, the traditional bullfighting sport, calling it an integral part of Goan culture and heritage. Raising the issue during the Assembly session, Arolkar said that the sport, despite being banned, continues to hold cultural significance for many Goans.
In response, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant acknowledged that Dhirio is currently banned by a High Court order. However, he assured the House that the government is exploring the possibility of legalising the sport through proper legal channels.
