Goa, Nov. 23 -- Amid a political uproar over the Centre's reported move to bring Chandigarh under the President's direct control, the Union Home Ministry has clarified that no final decision has been taken. It added that any step on the issue would be taken only after consultations with all stakeholders, and that it has no plans to introduce a Bill in the upcoming Winter Session of Parliament.
The clarification came after a Parliament bulletin mentioned the proposed Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, which sought to place Chandigarh under Article 240-allowing the President to issue regulations directly. The note triggered strong reactions from Punjab's political parties, including the BJP.
