India, Feb. 5 -- Calangute police have registered a case against a 23-year-old man from West Bengal for allegedly stealing 3.34 lakh in cash from his workplace, Silver Sands Hotel in Candolim.

The accused has been identified as Mohd. Imdad Alam, who was employed as front desk staff at the hotel.

According to the police, the theft came to light after hotel management noticed a shortage of cash and conducted an internal check. Subsequent verification of records and preliminary inquiry pointed towards Alam's alleged involvement in the incident.

Based on the complaint, Calangute police registered an FIR and have begun further investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances under which the cash was stolen and to recover the amount.
