The proposed new market project at Calangute has caught in controversy, as the villagers during the gram sabha held on Sunday, questioned the process of the proposed market.
Raising concerns over the minutes of the previous meeting, particularly regarding the resolutions for the proposed new bus stand and market complex, villagers pointed out that, according to a 2004 VP resolution, the land for the complex must first be acquired before any new proposals can be considered. Additionally, it was noted that the new budget made no provision for land acquisition.
Responding to these concerns, Sarpanch Joseph Sequeira assured the villagers that "the process is ongoing" for the construction of the new market ...
