Goa, Dec. 21 -- Calangute Police have booked three individuals for allegedly operating illegal self-drive taxi services using private vehicles. Police said the accused altered number plates to pass off private vehicles as commercial rent-a-cabs without obtaining proper permits. Crime No. 173/2025 has been registered under relevant legal provisions. Officials added that such practices undermine lawful taxi services and violate motor vehicle regulations. The police action followed routine checks in the area, during which the violations came to light. Authorities confirmed that further investigation is underway to trace additional offenders and ensure strict compliance with transport laws.
