Goa, July 23 -- In a major development on the trade front, the Union Cabinet on Tuesday approved the much-anticipated Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the United Kingdom, sources confirmed. The landmark deal, officially titled the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), is set to be signed in London on July 24 during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit.
PM Modi will embark on a four-day official tour to the United Kingdom and the Maldives starting Wednesday. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is expected to accompany the Prime Minister for the high-level engagements in London.
