Goa, Jan. 7 -- Residents of Bordem in Bicholim have raised strong objections to the Public Works Department's decision to lay a new, larger water pipeline through an existing drainage line. The new pipeline is being installed to replace the old one, but locals say the chosen route poses a serious health hazard.
They allege negligence on the part of authorities, claiming that no engineer or councillor was present at the site while the work was being carried out. Residents fear that if the pipeline bursts or leaks in the future, contaminated drain water could mix with the drinking water supply, putting public health at risk.
