Goa, June 4 -- Even as the fishing season kicks off, it has received a mixed response from boat owners-largely due to the continued neglect of the Vasco fishing jetty.

Goa Boat Owners Association President Jose Philip D'Souza expressed strong dissatisfaction, accusing the government of step-motherly treatment towards the sector. "This is not a fishing jetty," he said, highlighting the dilapidated condition of the facility.

D'Souza stressed that no official has taken responsibility or shown initiative to repair or maintain the jetty. The poor state of the jetty is particularly damaging to wooden boats, leading to high repair and operational costs for owners.
