Goa, Jan. 6 -- A black panther was found dead inside the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary near the Sonaulim Temple on Wednesday, triggering concern among wildlife officials and conservationists. Forest Department sources said the carcass was spotted by locals, following which officials rushed to the site and cordoned off the area. Preliminary observations suggest the animal may have died due to electrocution, possibly after coming into contact with an electric source linked to a nearby transformer. The carcass was recovered and sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
