Goa, March 17 -- BJP state president K Annamalai was taken into custody by Chennai police while on his way to Egmore for a demonstration against the TASMAC scam. Along with him, former Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and several other senior party officials were also detained. Starting at 7 am, police set up barriers at the homes of BJP state and district leaders, arresting them as they tried to leave for the protest.

Annamalai was apprehended at Akkarai junction near Neelankarai on the East Coast Road (ECR) while en route to the party's rally against the alleged TASMAC scam.
