Goa, July 27 -- Kala Academy's saga appears to be unending, as on Saturday a portion of the false ceiling in the violin classroom at the recently renovated iconic cultural institution collapsed on Saturday, raising fresh concerns about the quality of restoration work.

Two years ago, the stage roof of the open-air auditorium of the Kala Academy collapsed. There were also incidents of leakage in the main auditorium.

The Kala Academy building was renovated at a cost of about Rs 60 crore without floating a tender and allegedly without following the laid down procedures.

The Kala Rakhonn Mandd and the Task Force Committee had repeatedly raised red flags about the shoddy work, but their concerns were reportedly ignored.
