Goa, Dec. 29 -- Pradeep Ghadi Amonkar on Monday appeared before Anjuna Police for questioning in connection with the Birch nightclub fire case. Speaking to the media, Amonkar said he has owned the property since 1994 and had operated it as a hotel for nearly a decade before entering into a sale agreement with businessman Khosla - an agreement he later claims to have cancelled due to alleged forgery.

Amonkar further stated that he had raised concerns with authorities prior to the incident and alleged that the tragedy might have been avoided had timely action been taken.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the Birch nightclub blaze.
