Goa, Oct. 8 -- The Bicholim Municipal Council has decided to take a firm stand on recovering more than Rs.4 crore in pending taxes that have remained uncollected for several years. The issue, discussed at nearly every monthly meeting, continues to pose challenges for the municipality due to delays in payments by some individuals and entities.
Officials revealed that while tax collection from government offices has been satisfactory, arrears from private taxpayers remain a concern.
During the monthly meeting held on Monday, all corporators unanimously resolved to adopt a strict approach toward recovering the outstanding dues to improve the council's financial stability.
