Goa, Oct. 14 -- Bharath Thammineni, a 36-year-old mountaineer from Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, has made history by becoming the first Indian to summit nine of the world's 8,000-metre peaks. On Monday, October 14, he reached the top of Cho Oyu (8,188m), the sixth-highest mountain globally, at 6:55 a.m. China time. Founder of Boots & Crampons, Thammineni executed the expedition with base camp support from Nepal-based Climbalaya, further cementing his status as one of India's premier high-altitude climbers. Reflecting on his achievement, he dedicated the milestone to his family, team, and the spirit of India, noting that it celebrates every Indian mountaineer pursuing the world's highest summits.
