Goa, Dec. 6 -- A Supreme Court-appointed committee has issued a detailed order on the future of Omkar, the much-loved tusker currently roaming in the Pernem region of Goa. The committee has instructed the Maharashtra Forest Department to 'capture' the elephant, but only in a manner that ensures his long-term safety and well-being. Officials have stressed that Omkar's survival is the top priority, and Kolhapur forest authorities have been told not to move him to any permanent facility until a scientific and medical evaluation is completed. Meanwhile, a Goa Forest team is closely monitoring Omkar round-the-clock, as he is said to be extremely stressed and exhausted after days of wandering.
