Goa, Oct. 18 -- An Algerian woman expressed remorse for her "horrible" actions Friday as she faced trial in France for the rape and murder of 12-year-old Lola Daviet, a case that has shocked the nation.

Dahbia Benkired, now 27, was arrested after Lola went missing three years ago in northeast Paris. Her body was later discovered in a trunk in the lobby of the building where her parents worked as caretakers.
