Carlos Alvares Ferreira said that the tragic fire at Birch by Romeo Lane last night, which claimed several innocent lives, was a clear reflection of a systematic collapse of administration in Goa. He stated that those in Government "have blood on their hands" and warned that the incident would severely damage tourism and destroy public confidence, saying "Goa will be finished" if such failures continue. He added that multiple departments, not just the Panchayat, were involved, and expressed strong distrust in the Government's inquiry, alleging there would be a cover-up with blame shifted onto an inconsequential person.
