Goa, Nov. 28 -- Master Prayank Pradeep Gaonkar from Kajugatto, Sanguem, has brought pride to Goa and India by finishing second at the Commonwealth Chess Championship 2025, held from November 8 to 16 in Malaysia. Competing in the Under-8 Open Category, the 8-year-old secured an impressive 6.5 out of 9 points, showcasing extraordinary skill and determination while representing India.
A Class 3 student at Monivikas English High School, Prayank balances academics with his passion for chess. He started playing at the age of five and has been mentored by coach Prakash Vikram Singh at the Chess Guru Academy in Margao.
