Goa, Dec. 15 -- Mandrem police have arrested a 53-year-old pickup driver following a fatal hit-and-run incident at Varchavaddo in Arambol, Pernem. The accident claimed the life of a 78-year-old pedestrian who was reportedly knocked down by the vehicle. The accused allegedly fled the scene after the collision. The victim was taken to CHC Tuem for treatment but later succumbed to injuries. Police officials said further investigation is underway to determine the sequence of events and establish accountability.
