India, Feb. 1 -- The 16th Finance Commission has sanctioned a total grant of 1,049 crore for Goa, providing a major boost to local governance and development. Of the total allocation, 726 crore has been earmarked for Urban Local Bodies, while 174 crore will go to Rural Local Bodies. An additional 149 crore has been set aside to support disaster management-related needs in the state. The allocation, announced as part of Budget 2026, aims to strengthen civic infrastructure, improve service delivery, and enhance Goa's preparedness to respond to natural disasters and emergencies.
