Goa, June 9 -- Greta Thunberg and a group of international activists were detained on Monday after their vessel, the Madleen, was intercepted by the Israeli military while attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. The boat, part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, aimed to challenge the naval blockade and draw global attention to the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian territory.

The Madleen departed from Sicily carrying 12 individuals, including Thunberg, Irish actor Liam Cunningham, and French MEP Rima Hassan.
