India, May 11 -- Global life expectancy for both genders has reached new peaks following a recovery from recent health crises.

Decades of Steady Growth

In 1960, the average female lived 53 years, while males averaged 49 years. By 1990, these figures climbed to 67.61 years for women and 62.77 years for men. This progress continued through the millennium, with female expectancy surpassing 70 years by 2000.

Pandemic Volatility and Recovery

Female expectancy dropped from 75.35 years in 2019 to 73.74 years by 2021. Male figures fell to 68.85 years during that same window. By 2023, data shows a recovery to 75.84 years for females and 70.95 years for males.
