Monrovia, June 24 -- A group of female pastors and church leaders under the banner African Women for Jesus are preparing for a national conference in Liberia aimed at praying for the continent against increasing challenges facing its people.

The organizers say women are taking the lead because "God has selected women" so that they can give Africa to Jesus.

"If we can take Jesus and bring him in full front Liberia will have the change that Liberia needs," says Pastor Ulemu Singini of Uganda, who will be the guest of honor at the conference.

She said the crisis Africa is facing right now would not be remedied unless "Jesus is known in Africa".
