Sri Lanka, Oct. 16 -- The Producer's Price Index (PPI) of all economic activities covering: agriculture, manufacturing and water supply & electricity for the month of August reached 134.3. The annual growth rate recorded for the overall PPI is 1.4 percent. The PPI reported for the economic activities: agriculture, manufacturing, and electricity & water supply sectors are 138.8, 131.3 and 87.7 respectively. Manufacturing and electricity & water supply sectors reported a positive annual growth rate of 6.8 percent and 2.9 percent.
Even though, the agriculture sector recorded a significant negative growth rate of 9.9 percent in the month of August 2019. The overall PPI decreased by 0.1 index points from 134.4 index points in July 2019 to 134.3...
