President declared Kalu Ganga Reservoir project.

Sri Lanka, Nov. 8 -- The sluice gates of the Kalu Ganga Reservoir were opened today (November 7), marking the completion of the project. The event was held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

The Kalu Ganga Reservoir Project comes under the mega Moragahakanda - Kalu Ganga Multi-Purpose Development Project. The water capacity of the Reservoir is 248 million cubic meters and the length and the height of the main dam are 618 meters and 68 meters respectively.The project will meet the water supply needs of 3000 families who have been resettled in the lower valley of the Kalu Ganga.
