India, June 19 -- Thug Life, the recently released Tamil film starring Kamal Haasan in the lead role, hit theatres earlier this month and had courted much disappointment. Directed by Mani Ratnam, the film is a gangster actioner which was filled with controversy, thanks to Kamal Haasan's remarks on the Kannada language. In fact, his words had gone to the extent that Thug Life was banned in Karnataka after the actor refused to apologise.
