India, Nov. 15 -- Tamil director V Sekar, a prominent voice in making family-friendly films, died on Thursday at the age of 72 following a period of illness. Sekar had crafted a genre for himself by making films which depicted the life of middle-class families and the gender roles in patriarchal setups.

V Sekar, the Tamil film director, died on Thursday after a brief time of illness. He was 72 and is survived by his wife Tamilselvi and two children, Malarkodi and Karl Marx.
