Mumbai, March 11 -- At the 96th Academy Awards in Los Angeles, Emma Stone took home the Oscar for Best Actress for her portrayal of Bella Baxter in Poor Things. The period fantasy comedy, adapted from Alasdair Gray's novel, is directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and features Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, and Ramy Youssef in supporting roles.

Stone emerged victorious in a competitive field that included the highly anticipated Lily Gladstone for Killers of the Flower Moon, Sandra Huller for Anatomy of a Fall, and Carey Mulligan for Maestro. This win marks Stone's second Best Actress award, following her previous triumph in 2017 for La La Land.
