Nepal, April 27 -- The voting for the by-elections in Ilam-2 and Bajhang (A) concluded peacefully on Saturday.

The polls, which began at 7am, witnessed fairly low participation with only 57 percent of eligible voters partaking in Ilam while the turnout in Bajhang stood at around 50 percent.

In Ilam-2, a total of 115,889 individuals were eligible to cast votes, but only 66,000 voters took part on Saturday, said Chief District Officer Indra Dev Yadav.

Meanwhile in Bajhang (A), of the total 61,748 eligible voters, only 26,180 people cast their votes in 74 polling stations across the constituency, said Chief Election Officer in the district Sudarshan Lamichhane.
