Kathmandu, March 28 -- UML has strongly condemned the violent pro-monarchy protest that erupted in the Tinkune area of Kathmandu on Friday. In a statement released later in the evening, the party called for immediate legal action against those involved and demanded effective measures to restore peace and security.

"The CPN-UML stands firmly in defence of the democratic republic and the Constitution of Nepal," said UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel in the statement. "We urge all political parties, civil society, and the general public to unite in support of democracy and against any attempts of regression."

The party further condemned the violent and anarchic events, urging proper security arrangements.
