Kathmandu, Jan. 6 -- Nepali Communist Party (NCP) leader and former minister Umesh Yadav has joined the Janata Samajbadi Party, Nepal. On Tuesday, JSP-N chair Upendra Yadav and other leaders formally inducted him into the party.
Umesh Yadav won the 2013 Constituent Assembly election from Saptari-3 but lost to Upendra Yadav in 2017. In 2022, he contested the provincial assembly from Saptari-2 (2) but was defeated by Mahesh Yadav of Janamat Party. Mahesh, previously active in the Maoist Party, joined the Janamat Party the night before nominations and won the seat.
Umesh had earlier criticised JSP-N for its political stance. The NCP had recommended him from Saptari-2 for the upcoming House of Representatives elections.
